The Isle of Eigg is one of a triad of closely related islands; the other two are Rhum and Muck. It is populated by a small and thriving community and can be reached by ferry from Mallaig. The trip, including the ferry from Armadale, can easily be accomplished in a day. It a small island, ideal for walking and relaxing. There is a large garden estate which is perfect for exploration and working up an appetite. The whole island is dominated by the central core of an extinct volcano. It is also well known for its singing sands. For a special day out, Eigg should be high on your list of choices
