Inverness is the capital city of the Highlands; a most desirable place to live in through its geographical position, amenities and equable climate. It has a Scottish Premier League football team; if you are keen on the sport. The River Ness flows through the city where fishermen are often seen casting for salmon during the season. There are many river side walks, the most interesting being the Ness Islands. Inverness has a cathedral, a first class general hospital, cinemas, a modern theatre (Eden Court), golf courses, a sports centre, swimming pools, many excellent cafes and restaurants, a garden centre, street markets, retail parks, and a new upmarket shopping mall, the Eastgate Centre. The airport has a brand new terminal and has air links throughout Scotland, England, London and Europe. It is also the railhead for the South, Aberdeen, Kyle, Wick and Thurso. Inverness can be reached via Kyle by the north route through Achnasheen or the south route pass Cluanie Dam, Invermoriston and Ness side. Look out for the Monster! It is said to be the fastest growing city in Europe and it feels as though it is and increasingly with every visit.
