Visit Portree

Return

Take the main road north for 26 miles (40 km). This is the Island capital. It has an interesting range of shops and a fine harbour. The views alone are worth the trip.

There are some first rate eating houses and hotels. The Bosville, the Cuillin Hills Hotel and Portree House Hotel are worth a visit. For good coffee, teas and light meals, try Cafe Arriba and the Granary.

There are some fine walks, particularly around the Lump (where the Highland Games are held every year) and along the shore line towards Waterstein Head.

The Aros Centre is the cultural centre of the Island and houses a restaurant, cinema and gift shop; well worth your patronage.
